Sophie Da Silva
I am a multidisciplinary artist focused on visual exploration and material experimentation. My work draws on a broad range of visual culture—film, magazines, music videos, fashion, and design—with a particular affinity for imagery from the 1970s and 1980s, which continues to shape my visual language.
Working across wood, canvas, and paper, I combine acrylic paint with collage and textured elements to create layered compositions. Rather than developing extensive series, I produce small, focused groups of works that explore specific ideas or visual directions.
Color plays a key role, often bringing energy and optimism.
I create pieces I would want to live with—works that remain engaging over time. I think in images, constantly translating ideas into visual form. This ongoing exchange between thinking and making lies at the core of my practice.
